Everything you need to know!

Your First Lash Set

What are Envious Lashes eyelash extensions?

Envious Lashes are semi - permanent synthetic, mink or silk fibers which are applied strand to strand of your natural lashes. This enhances your natural eye or can create the illusion of a different shaped eye such as a more lifted appearance, wider more open eyes or almond shaping for a sultry look. Envious Lashes can be applied for every day wear or special events.

How long does it take to apply the eyelash extensions?

A full set application will depend on the volume being applied. For Clementina (the Master Stylist and owner) a full set is between 45 min to an hour and 15 min. For stylists of Envious Lashes a full set can take between 1.5 to 2 hours.

Does application of eyelash extensions hurt?

Eyelash Extension application should not hurt. Some may experience a bit of stinging from the adhesive however this is easily adjusted by making sure your eyes are completely closed or by switching to a sensitive formula.

What will they look like when they are done?

Envious lashes will be seamless and appear as if they are growing from your natural lash line. The effect is as though you are wearing great mascara without the need for actual mascara. Custom styling and shaping will be determined upon consultation.

How much does an Eyelash Extension cost?

The application of Eyelash Extensions at Envious Lashes is an art and as a result the cost varies with the level of experience the lash stylist (Master Stylist or stylist) and service requested (Full set, Volume Set or Touchup).  Full sets prices are based on volume.  For more information please see our pricing page here.

How long will my Envious Lashes eyelash extensions last?

We recommend getting a touch up every 2 to 3 weeks. If you wait too long your eyelash extensions will fall out and you will require a full set. Your natural eyelashes fall off every 45-60 days due to the natural growth cycle and are naturally replaced with the growth of a new eyelash. Other factors such as exposure to steam or touching your eyes a lot may cause the extensions to fall out sooner. A touch up is needed to fill in any lashes that have fallen.

How do I care for eyelash extension after application?

Less is more for the care of your lash extensions. Avoid tugging on them or rubbing your eyes. Certain products should be avoided such as anything containing oil as it will weaken the bond of the adhesive and cause your extensions to slip off. As previously discussed mascara is not recommended and if you absolutely must use mascara please follow the mentioned method here and avoid using waterproof or oil based mascara. Post care instructions are provided in detail for each client after the application.

Can I use eyelash curlers with eyelash extensions?

We do not recommend using mechanical eyelash curlers on your eyelash extensions as these curlers will damage the extensions and possibly your own natural lashes. The extensions do have a natural curl but if more of a curl is required we recommend using a heated eyelash curler.

Can I use mascara with lash extensions?

We advise against the use of mascara as the purpose of the eyelash extensions is to give you the look of a flawless mascara without having to wear any. However if you require a little more pop for an evening out then NON-waterproof mascara may be used ONLY on the TIPS of your lashes. Waterproof mascara is difficult to remove and can, therefore, damage your extensions in removal. Also, it contains a chemical that may interact with the adhesive and cause it to dry out resulting in premature extensions loss. Applying even Non-water proof mascara to the base of your lashes will result in the same thing, as removal of the mascara, will cause you to rub your extensions and therefore causing the extensions to shed. Additionally applying mascara will add more weight to your natural lashes. We apply the maximum volume that your natural lashes can hold and by weighting them down with products may result in the breaking and shedding of your natural lashes causing weak areas and damage. Envious Lashes is in the process of developing a mascara that is eyelash extension safe.

Will I be able to wear make up?

You can absolutely wear make up as long as any oil based products are n ot going on or around your eyes. Eye shadow fallout may lighten the appearance of your eyelashes so giving them a gentle brush will remove the fallout, avoid mascara as previously discussed.

Will it affect my glasses or contacts?

Eyelash extensions will only affect your eyeglasses if they are too long.

Can I shower or swim while wearing eyelash extension?

We ask that you keep your brand new eyelashes dry for the first 48 hours after application and each time after maintenance. Once the 48 hour curing period is over you may get them wet without affecting the application. Eyelash extensions are waterproof and are intended to replace mascara so you can swim and shower with them on.

Why wait 48 hours after application of eyelash extensions?

The medical grade adh esive we use needs a 48 - hour curing period in order to ensure that your extensions stay attached. Getting your eyelashes wet before they are fully cured will lead to premature extension shedding as well as causing stinging to the eye s as the adhesive is no t dry and may fume.

Can I take the eyelash extensions off?

Your lash extensions are easily removed when done by a professional. A solvent is applied to your eyes which will break down the adhesive bond causing th e extensions to slip easily off your natural lashes without causing any damage. DO NOT attempt to remove extensions on your own as you will damage your natural eyelashes. Baby oil does not work in the removal of eyelash extensions.

How long have you been in the business?

Envious lashes was founded in 2007. While Clementina has been in the beauty profession for 15 years, her stylists have been beauty professionals for over 5 years.

What should I expect at my appointment?

Your appointment will consist of a thorough consultation where everything from your eye shape, natural lashes and even the way you wear your make up will be discussed. This information will then be used to determine a flattering, customized style for your eyes only.

Touch Ups

Why do i need to get touch up?

Clients return every 2-3 weeks for refills because the natural lashes have a growth cycle of 60-90 days.   Your full set will not remain the same after two to three weeks. The base of the lash extension grows away from the eyelid and depending on the growth stage of the natural lash the extension will shed along with the lash.  With the proper care and application the client should return with 50-70% of the lash extensions still attached. The stylist will then remove all grown out messy lashes and replace them with new ones.

How often should I get a touch up?

It is a required every 2-3 weeks. Anything after 3 weeks will be charged an additional fee.

Will I be able to make changes to my extensions at my touch up appointment?

Yes. You can upgrade your set or change styling at you touchup appointment.

WAXING

 What is waxing?

Waxing is the process of removing body and facial hair by its root using a soft or hard (stripless) wax which is warmed and melted then thinly spread on the skin and peeled off.

What is soft wax?

Soft wax is generally a honey based wax which is thinly spread on the skin and then removed by placing a cotton or Muslin strip over it and peeling in opposite direction of hair growth.

How is stripless wax used?

Stripless wax is applied to the desired area of skin to be waxed and then allowed to cool for a few seconds. Once the wax hardens, a licensed professional pulls the wax off of the skin, removing the hair with it. Stripless wax is removed in the opposite direction of the hair growth, just as traditional soft wax is removed

Why use stripless wax?

Stripless wax is known to be gentler on skin. Because a thin layer of oil is applied to the skin prior to the application of the wax it creates a barrier on the skin leaving it unaffected by the removal process. Hair is removed by the root 100% of the time making the wax last longer. Additionally, stripless wax has a much lower melting point than soft wax and therefor is less aggravating to the skin.

How long does hair have to be to be waxed?

1/4 inch or the length of a grain of rice

What should I expect after my first waxing treatment?

Smoother skin for starters. Some clients may have sensitivity and redness especially after the first wax however, this usually alleviates within a few hours especially if the wax is performed properly.

Will the hair grow back thicker?

No, this is a myth. Waxing removes the root of the hair and shrinks your follicle so finer, lighter hair grows in its place. Consistent waxing has proven to slow hair regrowth and produce vellus (fine, light, short) hair.

How long will my wax last?

On average a wax should last 4-6 weeks. Time frame will vary depending on hair growth cycles for each individual
